Ps 62:5:  My soul, wait in silence for God only.  For my hope is from Him.

God certainly answered prayer last week when we went to the pain clinic for a procedure.  It has already given relief of pain.

On Aug 18th Dr. Saleem Ahmad will see Marcia concerning the testing results for congestive heart failure.

Gos bless you for your prayers.

Ps 100:4:  Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Praise GOD, Marcia continues to attend church and enjoy praise and worship services.  She looks forward to it each Sunday.  She has had a better week, health wise.  She has had good Dialysis treatments, which is a blessing in itself.  She had a special visit from her dear niece Karen.  Most evenings She and David take walks.  She is walking and increasing her strength.

Tuesday August 14th we go to the Ohio Pain Clinic for her back and legs that keep her from sleeping.

Keep praying for Sean Duffy, a college student, for salvation.  David has had three lunch meetings with him this summer.  He is very interested, but has a strong Catholic background.

Summers at college are harder with only about 45 contacts with students.  July 30th GOD still gave 10 spiritual contacts.

Thank You for your proayers.

Paul teaches us to rejoice in the LORD in difficult times.  Phil. 3:1.  Peter does as well in I Peter 1:6-7 “Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations.  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.”

Beginning early in July, the Dialysis Leadership extended Marcia’s treatment time from 3 hours to 3 1/2 hours.  This has helped with the blood pressure dropping, and fainting at the end of treatment.  We are thankful.

July 21 – Marcia finally had the tilt-table test, this did not find a cause of the problems of low blood pressure and fainting at the end of treatments.  At the same time she had a 24 hour Holter Monitor attached.  The results of both tests will not be found out until a follow-up exam on August 18th at the Cardiologist.

Thank you for praying, please continue.  Shortness of breath seems to be increasing.

Challenges to Marcia’s Progress

The Lord saw her, he had compassion on her.”  Luke 7:13

Marcia had to go to hospital after dialysis Monday, June 29th, until Friday July 3rd. She went in with severe dehydration, and fading out.  We had to call an ambulance for the first time.

Marcia also had chemical stress test.  She is on the edge of congestive heart failure.  Since coming out of the hospital, we have been to a cardiologist.  She is scheduled for a tilt table test while wearing a heart monitor for over 2 hours.

Pray for Dave as he has another lunch with the college student, Sean.  Pray for Campus Bible support to increase.

27 June 09

Be of Good Courage

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart all ye that hope in the Lord.  Ps 31:24

Marcia’s stress test (chemical) was moved to June 30th at 7:00 AM.  Please pray.  Three different tests total 3-4 hours long.  Follow-up report will be July 7th.

Last weekend, June 20-21st went to Beech Grove, Indiana to meet with 35 people from church youth group we directed 50 years ago.  Marcia made it to Saturday might reunion, but was not able to go to Sunday morning Sunday School class.  Dave presented campus ministry to Gray Road Church.

Marcia needed oxygen Monday morning about 4 AM until we went to dialysis.  The fluid build-up gives her shortness of breath.

13 June 09

How Blessed We Are
How blessed we are to “come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need  Heb 4:16

It was recommended by Marcia’s kidney specialist to go to a cardiologist, which we did this past Thursday.  Marcia will return to him June 25th for a nuclear stress test, electrocardiograph, and other testing.

Praise—the last two dialysis treatments were much improved with better results and no drop in blood pressure.

The youth group that Dave and Marci were in during the 1950s at First Baptist Church in Beech Grove, Indiana is having a reunion June 21st.  Pray that Marcia will be able to go.

We Are Still Experiencing the GRACE and Peace of God that Paul Promised to Believers of Ephesus in 1:2

Marcia’s Catheter for Dialysis (Probably 70” long) came out about 1” and had to be replaced Friday June 5.

Marcia’s Kidney Doctor advised Marcia to see a cardiologist to double check her heart condition—June 11.

Marcia’s days are up and down according to dialysis treatment.

We have a trip to Indiana, June 20_21 to meet with old youth group (50 years ago) and seek support for campus ministry, please pray for our safe trip.

We Continue to Rest in God’s Mercy

Do you remember singing this Hymn?

Come thou fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.

Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above:
Praise this name – I’m fixed upon it,

Name of God’s redeeming love.

                                                                Ps 86:15

We are still trying to get into University of Cincinnati – Dr. Cardi.  We are praying for God’s direction for the next step.

Praise—Marcia has felt much better and is able to go to the store (drive herself), and physically do more than in the past.

Request—Please ask God’s help for nose bleeds to stop.  Need correct balance of blood thinners required for dialysis.

Marcia Has Special Visitors From Iowa

Marcia was blessed this weekend with visits from Iowa of Grandchildren Justin and Becky Limbaugh, Jack and Amber Limbaugh, and Great-Grandchildren Jack and Will.

We are thankful for 4 months staying out of the hospital, except for the failed Fistula attempt.  Still waiting for the nurse to come to dialysis and provide instructions on possible peritoneal dialysis at home.

1 Thess. 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you brethren…and the charity of every one of you all…

17 Apr 09

We Continue to Hope in God’s Mercy (Psalm 23:6)
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life

Marcia is doing inches better.  Friday we will be meeting with a nurse about being further informed regarding peritoneal dialysis.  This is a process for home dialysis.  We desire God’s direction.  Please pray.

04 Apr 09

Psalm 33:18
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

We have contacted Dr. Cardi, a Renal Specialist in Cincinnati for a second opinion, and are seeking information about alternate treatment methods.  We are praying about a treatment method called peritoneal where medicated liquids are put into the body for 4-5 hours, and then drained off without going to dialysis.  This would also require a hematology lab once a month.

Marcia had a good week except for one day when the dialysis technician did not remove enough fluid causing shortness of breath.  Please pray for God’s guidance related to our many decisions.

28 Mar 09

Marcia’s Vers For The Week (Psalm 59:17)

Unto thee, Oh, my Strength I will sing; for God is my defense and the God of my mercy.

Last Sunday might we were both able to sing and present the opportunity with college students of Campus Bible Fellowship.

Monday March 30th, we will go see the kidney doctor to consider God’s next step.  Last week’s options still need prayer.

21 Mar 09

Update

Marcia’s Fistula did not work.  Revisit with the doctor leaves us with 4 options.  Need Prayer

1)       Another Fistula attempt with deeper artery and vein (more complicated than first); some risk to nerve that could affect piano playing

2)      Different system of dialysis (peritoneal); we would both need training for this.

3)      Get on list for kidney transplant

4)      Go to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for second opinion

Need God’s guidance!—Doctor visit was not encouraging

Marcia also has infection, which means antibiotics, stomach pain, and lost sleep.

Thank You for your prayers

14 Mar 09

Psalm 57:1 “Have Mercy On Me O Lord…” (Marcia’s verse for the week)—Thank you for all of your prayers.

This past Tuesday we found out that Marcia’s Fistula did not form properly, and will not work.  A believer called from out west this week with a new system that took him off dialysis.  We need God’s guidance to know if “Retaxan” is OK for Marcia.  Otherwise, we start over with new Fistula.

Next Sunday night, March 22, we present Campus Bible Fellowship ministry to a church David preached in 40 years ago.

Our spiritual contacts stand at 188 since Sept. 9th 2008.

7 Mar 09

Sorry We Have Missed Reporting For a Few Weeks

16 Feb—While at Dialysis, the Doctor set the machine too high and Marcia passed out.  She was sent to the hospital for four days.  She got out on Thursday and was good to go the Walnut Creek Church beyond Columbus on the weekend.

Our weekend at Walnut Creek was a great opportunity for our Savior, but it was hard on Marcia.  She does not sleep well away from home, and it was a long trip.

27 Feb—We went to a host meeting to match students with host families, 35 people attended.

Marcia’s Fistula is not flowing well.  She goes to the hospital March 10th at 7:00 to have it check and corrected if necessary.

We still thank God for his help and care to our walk of faith.  God has given 174 spiritual contacts.

14 Feb 09

Valentine’s Day…
…But Long Before Mankind Invented Cupid’s Wish Bow and Arrow, There Was God.  1 John 4:8 God is (=) Love.

Marcia is still gaining a little strength.  She is still on dialysis on M-W-F, for three hours each day.  She still has intermittent stomach problems.  It is still five more weeks before she can use the Fistula for dialysis.

Marcia and Dave are practicing music for small church banquet on Saturday February 21.  Will sing and speak for banquet, then on Sunday morning we will present the Campus Bible Fellowship (CBF) Ministry.  God has granted 141 spiritual contacts at the 2 colleges.

Please pray for Marcia to be strong for the weekend.  Dave is working at a small funeral home in Bellbrook until income increases.

06 Feb 09

God is a God of Mercy

This week we accomplished the fistula in Marcia’s left arm.  It will have to heal for 6 weeks before used for dialysis.  Pray for Marcia’s strength two weeks from today when we go to Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Columbus, for Saturday night Valentine Banquet.  We will sing and speak in the evening and provide a Campus Bible Fellowship presentation in the morning.

We are meeting with students and planning a host meeting for international students.  We ask your prayers at Wright State University, they after 24 years, are making new standards for tolerance of who can vote in our club.  This battle has been won on twelve of our national campuses.

30 Jan 09

“We Appreciate You Praying for Us”

Last week you prayed about the catheter replacement.  It all went well.  Clean blood is important for good health.  Now once again we are asking for you to pray about the fistula procedure.  It has been rescheduled for Feb 5th at 6:00 a.m.  As we pray this week, we call upon you to ask God that our confidence be placed totally in Him.  Prov. 3:26, For the Lord God shall be thy confidence and keep the foot from being taken.

Finally, we are asking that the Lord move in our lives together, together in Godly exercises, and that He would supply all our needs according to His riches.  Phil 4:19.

23 Jan 09

“God is good.” Ps 136 “and his mercy endureth forever.”  [Mentioned 26 times in this Psalm]

Marcia has been anticipating her fistula surgery, and needs it very much as her blood is once again too thick for dialysis through the catheter.  Please Pray:

  • Monday for a full dialysis treatment
  • Tuesday for replacement of catheter (same day surgery)
  • Wednesday for dialysis through new catheter
  • Thursday for possible fistula same day surgery.  After six weeks of healing, dialysis can be through the fistula rather than the problematic catheters
  • Friday for successful dialysis, cleaning of blood, and removal of 2+ liters of fluid (Think of a 2 Liter bottle of Coke)

Prayer is what keeps us together before God our Father.

16 Jan 09

“Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”  Ps. 103:3

Another benefit, 5 weeks out of the hospital!  We ask you to focus prayer to God for guidance to doctors prescribing medicines.  It seems like we are getting one new medicine a week.  This week a medicine to calm became the cause of night jitters, “antsy” legs; we walked the floor for quite awhile.  Marcia’s weight is down to 127 lbs.

God gave a good week in the college ministry.  More Christian students showed up at the mission table.  God gave an anonymous gift to the college ministry.  Thank Him.

9 Jan 09

Praise: Adonai Jehovah in Genesis 15:2 is similar to Christ and the believer in John 13:13 in regards to the relationship between Christ and the believer.

Marcia and Dave praise Him Who is our Master for Marcia staying out of the hospital for four weeks.

Future:  On Tuesday, January 13th, at 9:30 a.m., Marcia will have a follow-up with stomach doctor she had from the last hospital stay.  In two weeks, she will have fistula inserted as an outpatient surgery.  The fistula will improve Marcia’s dialysis treatments.

Prayer:  1. We need major prayer for Marcia’s kidneys to start or God’s direction for another solution.  2.  Dave attended a great college missions’ conference at Cedarville University.  He needs God’s guidance on how to use all the ministry ideas he saw.  3.  Please pray for a new intensity in the college ministry.  4.  Pray for Dave and Marcia as they prepare for a mission ministry presentation in early February in Baltimore, OH.

Keep praying  and keep looking up!

3 Jan 09

Praise God—Marcia Has Stayed Out of The Hospital for Three Weeks

Marcia still has dialysis on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week.  She takes 11 pills a day, with 3 being antibiotics; many times these make her nauseous.  It is hard for her to think she will get well.  Next two steps are fistula (postponed 3 times), and possible kidney transplant.  This week she was back to playing the piano.

David will be involved in a missions conference at Cedarville University January 6-8, seeking recruits to work at Sinclair College and Wright State University.  Pray for God’s guidance for Marcia and support for the college ministry.  David is working part time at a Funeral Home until support comes in.

19 Dec 08

Marcia Has Another Hospital Stay

The Lord Is Good To All…Psalm 145:9

This week Marcia had another adventure in the hospital.  CAT scans were compared with previous indicating Diverticulitis.  Stomach upset was examined by stomach scope indicating scaring and the start of an ulcer.

  • Blessing of the Week:  Marcia’s veins are hard to find.  God sent here a burse who prayed out loud that God would help her get the IV in.  Praise God, this happened on the first try.
  • Blessing of the Week:  The repeat of the word revive, or quicken, or make alive.
  • Prayer request of week, part time job for David until support for college ministry comes in.
  • Pray for Tina W. a Buddhist.

Marcia is studying for a special speaking engagement Nov 15th.  Please pray for her strength to accomplish this.

Pray that God will guide us on a medical decision.  Marcia is currently using and inserted catheter for Dialysis; the medical team is recommending a more permanent Fistula for long-term Dialysis support.

In these days of financial turmoil, Almighty GOD showed up and allowed us to buy a house for ministry with the college young people.

Pray as David finishes repairs to the 1996 Motor Home that David and Marcia desperately need to sell.  Please pray that it will sell quickly, at limited loss.

Thank You, thousands, for faithful prayers and pleadings.

Marcia Goes to Church

Although weak and on oxygen, Marcia was grateful to attend morning worship at First Baptist Vandalia.

15 Sep 08

Ohio Hit By Hurricane “Ike”

Ohio was hit by a freak storm as a result of Hurricane Ike.  Massive power outages and widespread damage occurred.  Marcia was fortunate to lose power for only 24 hours.  Some areas of Dayton, Ohio are without power and water over a week later.

Marcia’s Monday dialysis was postponed as her dialysis location was still closed.  Seven other dialysis locations could not take her.  God provided a new dialysis locations for Tues-Thurs-Sat dialysis.

06 Sep 2008

Details of Marcia’s Set Back

Marcia’s set back began on Wednesday, September 3 when her white blood cell count went to a low of .5 compared to a minimum baseline of 1.5.  She had an additional set back Friday morning when she was given her medicine before breakfast and vomited followed by dry heaves.  The hospital moved her to the critical care unit (CCU).  Marcia is experiencing too much fluid buildup and is having shortness of breath, blurred vision, non-stop shaking, and delusion.  Marcia is pleading with the hospital personnel to accept Jesus.  One example occurred last Friday night with Heather, a cleaning lady, who came into Marcia’s room while she was praying aloud.

The good news is that Marcia’s white blood cell count is now over 2.2 (baseline 1.5) and her antibodies are down to 17 (new baseline of 20).

Special Prayer Request

Pray for Marcia to be able to speak at a Ladies Confernece on November 15th.  Pray as Marcia attempts to write a book regarding how God reveals himself and answers prayer step-by-step.  Pray for results from witnessing to four souls in the medical field.
